Skinned Mesh Animations

Skinned mesh animations are created by animating Blender bones in pose mode.  Bones are contained within a Blender armature object, and bone (pose) animations are contained within Blender Actions.  Actions should be laid out on the NLA timeline as action strips for export to the dts file format, and marked with start and end timeline markers.

Skinned meshes are created using Blender's "Armature parent deform", or the Blender Armature modifier.

Notes:

  • The exporter doesn't support envelope deformations for skinned meshes; only vertex weights created in weight paint mode or edit mode.
