Moving objects between layers

  1. Select the object(s) that you wish to move to another layer by right-clicking them in Blender's 3D view.
  2. Press the 'm' key to bring up the layer selection dialog:
  3. Click the button corresponding to the layer to which you wish to move the object.  Click OK to complete the operation.

Note: An object can exist in multiple layers at the same time.  By holding down on the "shift" key while clicking, you can choose multiple layers in the layer selection dialog.  Since layers are used to set up LOD (Levels of Detail) for the DTS exporter, the exporter will recognize objects that are assigned to multiple layers and add them to each corresponding detail level.  This is useful if you have an object that can't really be simplified (such as a single plane or cube) and want it to carry over into the lower detail levels as-is (saves the trouble of making copies of the object for each LOD).
